The Inspiration Behind SNOOZ

It started with a simple observation at a family wedding back in 2012. Matt and Eli noticed relatives using ordinary fans - not for air circulation, but for the soothing ambient sounds the fans produced. This creative use particularly stood out during Chicago's chilly winters when using a fan overnight seemed silly.

As experts in mechanical engineering and fluid dynamics, Matt and Eli saw an opportunity to create a more purposeful solution for better sleep than repurposing fans. Unimpressed by other sound machines on the market, they channeled their technical knowledge into designing the perfect ambient noise experience from the ground up.

Perfecting the Sound

It took a ridiculous amount of CFD computer simulation and a crash course in 3D printing, but Matt and Eli eventually developed a proprietary impeller and acoustic chamber that combined to create SNOOZ’s signature fan sound. When their friends refused to return test units, they knew they were on to something.
